Pros and cons of Autoweek Mag App app for iPhone and iPad

Autoweek Mag App app good for

Its a free app, however this doesnt mean you get free access to magazines. Thats what newstand is.
First off, many of these user reviews have no idea how Newstand works, so the reviews are skewed. What youre downloading is essentially a "portal" to get all the magazines - dont expect all of them to be free. Next, kudos for giving a free, full sample magazine! This free download is worth it just for that (which has a great 2012 Buyers Guide). The app itself runs well on my iPhone 4, sometimes takes a little long to render some pages. Overall 4*/5* -- recommended.
Easy to use app. The free mag was an enjoyable read. No issues, yet.
5$ a year for approximately one magazine a week is awesome other mags charge 25$ or more
Gathered well information for cars and other stuff too, adjustable to read and work good for me
I moved to the digital Autoweek when it first became available. Despite some early issues which were fixed quickly by tech support I have been very happy with the app overall. It is great to get the new edition and be able to skim through and then quickly go back to an article that I want to read. I can also go back to previous issues and re-read articles that I want to check out again. Like the coverage of all the racing that occurred in the past few weeks. I do sometimes wish the reviewers of the new cars would be more critical when they find faults. To me telling a manufacturer what is wrong helps them to address problems up front and not years later when the replace the older models.

Some bad moments

The app seems like a great idea, and the price point makes it again seem like a no-brainer. But a couple of the key features do not work properly on the iPhone (admittedly already a challenging platform to view a magazine). The Photo galleries, for starters, do not display properly. The images are zoomed-in versions and there is no way to zoom out to see the entire image. scrolling or attempting to pinch the image is useless. And the interactive pages typically dont zoom in. Ive sent screenshots and such to Pixelmags. They are responsive, but only to the point of recreating the problem and promising to forward the issue on to development in London. But these problems have existed since the beginning. its a shame. I like Autoweek and miss reading it. But this app is no substitute for the real deal. Maybe its better on an iPad?
App crashes all the time and freezes. I bought an issue and it doesnt display it even after redownloading it. Waste of money.
Fake rating fake free magz fake fake. Says it has no rating then you check and it because everyone hates this misleading stuff. Steve would not like this
U download the app for free And then within the app u have to buy an issue to read
I like the fact that one issue is downloadable free of charge for us to review - thanks for doing that, unlike other publications on here. I dont like that the magazine is not interactive at all - no videos to jump out at you and no riveting articles. It just looks stale. I also have an issue with blank black pages every second swipe - very little effort was put into dishing this app. Make the necessary changes or risk obsolesence.
Same story as everyone else. Cant log on and download new and past issues. Support is absolutely worthless and a waste of time. Support asks for documentation that you have a subscription and then tells you theres nothing they can do. How hard can this be? It certainly isnt national security.
